Which College is Best for Me?
In Canada, we have 3 different types of college programs: Career College, Public College and Post-Graduate. Each one prepares you for a Canadian Work Experience, Industry Certifications or Professional References.
Career Colleges are short-term Diploma programs that help to improve your job skills. These Diploma programs are taught by accredited colleges. Career Colleges usually offer Diploma programs of less than a year plus a co-op/internship placement.
Public Colleges or Community Colleges provide two or three year programs that focus on helping you enter a career. It is excellent for young students who have not attended a post-secondary institute. Some Public Colleges offer co-op options so students can work in their field of study while enrolled at the school. These colleges prepare you for specific careers. Our students who graduate from the Pathway Program can transfer to one of our partners colleges to study any of their programs. Some additional qualifications may apply depending on the program.
Students who have completed a college or university program in their home country may be able to apply for a Post-Graduate Program. Connect students who graduate from the ACP Program can transfer to Lambton College's Post-Graduate Program based in Toronto. In some programs, students can do in-class study for one year and one year in a full-time co-op.
